Tomatoes and Lettuce

I started some hydroponic beef steak tomatoes and also one cherry. They are being transferred from the starting bin in to dutch buckets. Hope to do that here in the next day or so. Also started another batch of lettuce. As you can see from the photos they have been growing for a bit. Enjoy.

Harvest was 45 days...

I forgot to post on here but my harvest ended up being 45 days. Longer than the planned 30 but I suspect it is because we keep our home cool and that kept growth slow. Here is one of the heads from harvest...

The results were awesome! And the lettuce smells and tastes so good! Batch two is already started. More on that later in another post.

11 Days Later

Here are some photos of the lettuce 11 days after the last ones. Pretty awesome in my book :)

7 Days Later

Here we are 7 days later.

Lettuce is doing well. As I mentioned, this is my first hydroponics bed so I am excited to see how well it is doing.

We will be away for 10 days so I will post another update when we get back.

Until then, be green....

First update in over a year.

This is going to be an exciting year for us. I can hardly believe we did not post anything here in 2013. We will try to be better about that in 2014.

As you can see we have started growing some hydroponic lettuce. This is our first venture down this road but so far we are liking it.

2014 also has a rather large move in store for us. We just purchased a house and just under 4 acres in southern North Carolina. The place even had a 1/2 acre pond and a small greenhouse! Plus chickens!

We are excited and can not wait to see what 2014 had in store for us in sunny North Carolina. Until next time eat, grow, and think green!
